running two different version of fcpx on one computer? If you're careful you can do that, run some projects and events in 10.0.7 and some projects and events in 10.0.8. If you ever update the 10.0.7 projects to 10.0.8 you can't go back. Use Event Manager X to make sure only the right projects are available to FCP...
