You'll actually update to 10.0.5.
Open the App Store application from your Dock.
Go to the Updates tab.
Click the Update All button.
That simple.

Event and Project data are stored inside those individual databases, not in the application. Inside each individual Event and Project folder is a database file called CurrentVersion.fcpevent (or .fcpproject). That's all your metadata. Only Preferences in the FCP menu are stored in the app itself.

When you make the purchase it does NOT update the trial, but installs a new full version. So you end up with two copies. Notice the name of your trial version has the word "trial" in it. Drag it to the trash before launching the paid version.

Also run Software Update to get the Additional Content not included with the trial version.

Hey ben I know this is off subject but i have a question. So if my time machine is backing up my info and i desire to get another computer to "clone" this one.....will all of the plug-in for FCPX be stored in the same fashion in a different folder or will the plug ins be stored on the app itself? Thanks in advance.

Before you do anything else, be sure to get the basic FCP X training from Ripple Training or macProVideo (who I produce for). I also have a course "Media Management In FCP X". Not vital, but could help in the long run when you have the time and money.

So, directly to your question, and a really good one at that. You get another Mac, first plug in that TimeMachine drive. Then boot it up for the first time. It'll ask you if you want to restore from a backup or TimeMachine drive. Say yes, point to the correct drive, done. Simple as that.

Everything will be where it should be. No worries.
