A nice surprise for us yesterday when we managed to get our hands on a brand new MacBook Air. Only announced at the World Wide Developers Conference 4 days ago, it's still in the wrapper!
FCPX - It was the news we've been waiting a few years for but it was worth it. Awesome, jaw dropping call it what you want FCPX (10) takes editing to a new level. All the new features after the break.
A developing story, but software developer Wes Plate has joined Apple as a Product Designer, with the Pro Apps team we are assuming.
3D designer Peter Zigich has been using Apple workstations for over 20 years. He like many others has been frustrated by the lack of a MacPro update. So why not let the imagination run and design your own? Well that's exactly what he did!
Apple's big showcase for new hardware and software is the World Wide Developers Conference in San Francisco that starts on Monday the 2nd of June. So what do we expect? Yosemite OS X anybody?
Surely this old piece of NLE operation is old news? Or has Apple got a more advanced plan using this patent? Could the new Apple data centre, the new iMovie and a new MobileMe account be the first inroads into cloud editing?
The answer is to check for a virus. Yeup you read right, your machine could be infected with the Flashback OSX Trojan. Won't happen to you? A good friend of FCP.co got hit.
We have had reports in from a few sources that the top of the range iMac has had problems when running Final Cut Pro X and Motion. Surely the machine must have enough horsepower, what is going on?
You might have noticed that we have been building a list of free FCPX & Motion effects for download over on our forum. Let's take the thought further though...
We were going to try and not mention that three lettered acronym for the whole of today until we found this. Andrew Baum, Product Marketing Manager heads up this Apple video presentation from 1999 of Final Cut Pro 1. Some of the messages are curiously familiar.
***Updated with embedded YouTube HD video of keynote***
With no new hardware and no sign of FCPX, Steve Jobs' keynote speech was nevertheless a classic. We detail some of the points that will relate to the Pro Apps user. How about a 97% price reduction for one!
There was a time when Apple's World Wide Developers Conference got no media coverage apart from dedicated Apple news websites. Now the annual event from the Moscone Centre gets airtime on national news. So what was announced that is relevant to Final Cut Pro X and editors?
The last few World Wide Developers Conferences have been a bit 'meh'. Not so for today's 2017 conference from San Jose. A new macOS, Kaby Lake updates to the MacBook lineup, talk of an FCPX update and of course the announcement of the awesome new iMac Pro.
Where were you this time last year? We were waiting to go into WWDC to see the new Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR for the first time. This year? Nobody is attending, but we do have the Keynote livestream. Will we see the beginning of the transition from Intel to Arm-based processors?
Is there nothing left that Apple makes or does that doesn't turn into a song or a rap? Highlights of Monday's World Wide Developer Conference in a song format. Just one of a thousand songs in a thousand days.
