I didn't have time to read all the pages previously so this may have been brought up earlier.

But tomorrow is Tuesday, 62 days since last update.

You think there might be 10.1 on 10/1?

I was also thinking that historically, FCPX and Major FCP Classic upgrades typically came out at least 1 month before the newest OS X upgrade.

My theory, I may be way off, but tomorrow FCPX, motion, Compressor, slim possibility of Logic update, then later in October the live apple even featuring the iPad(s), MacPro/MBP and new mystery items, possibly a new pro app to work along with FCP. Then Mavericks released is released in November when the new MacPro starts shipping with maintenance update to FCPX.

Who knows?

If Larry Jordan's info is correct, then the MacPro and 10.1 will come out at the same sime. Likely at apples October event.

For mysterious reasons, I believe FCPX won't ship before Mavericks.

If anything happens tomorrow, I'd expect it to be another Haswell Mac refresh. The MacMini perhaps?

I concur. I don't think we'll see anything FCX related before Mavericks and/or the Tube appear. But I've been wrong before... :-)

For sure!

MacMini on Haswell. 'Silent' upgrade.
MacBook Pro… Silent upgrade.
iPodMini - only 'on stage' when avail as iPadMini-C ;)

Mavericks - 'iOS7 for Macs' … needs looong demo, on-stage upgrade.

MacPro + Pro-apps … only important for 'minor' groups + stock exchange ("can't innovate…") => I wouldn't be surprised by a 'very special event', at Chinese Theatre, Skywalker-Ranch, Pixar-Studios, like that …

… and IF Apple has a 'mystery product' in it sleeves, they will not 'sell' it as a "one more thing"… I think, the days are over of 2h shows, cramped with new toys…

In my humble opinion, Apple was and is very smart in settings emphasis - Mavericks is a change EVERY Mac-user will notice; a new 'chip' inside a Tupperbox… hmm, well, nice, what for? (important only for AppleStores, you can run any Pro-App on a MacMini); the pro-hard- and software has a 'show factor', is for 'brand building', has no interest for the wide audience, only for specialists (=so-called opinion-multiplicators…).

Macpro, when Mavericks, and when FCPX10.1.

… and I'm 'afraid', FCPX10.1. will cost…

my 5¢ …

Karsten- I don't think you'll see a very long Mavericks demo at the upcoming Event. Apple has already demoed Mavericks at WWDC in June. If you look a the iPhone Event from a few weeks ago- when they recapped iOS7 features it was a very quick overview.

Mavericks overview will likely play up battery improvements- which is why they may release the MacBookPro then as well.

Emphasis will like be on iPads, a Mac/Mavericks update, iLife/iWork software, and then AppleTV or any mystery product that have waiting in the wings.

Big teases!

It would surprise me to no end for it to pop up today.

Including today, there's 5 Tuesdays in October. Anyone wanna place their money (reputation) on a day?

Right now I'm still hedging on the 22nd, a week after Apple's supposed Quarterly earnings call.

I thought for sure we would see 10.1 on 10/1 (today).

I'll bet there were will be an event of some kind. My money is on October 22nd.

Or maybe the 15th if it corresponds with the Mac Pro, I think Apple is going to make a big deal of the Mac Pro being assembled in Texas, and they will perhaps have it coincide with the earnings announcement.

I'll just settle betting on a Tuesday.

Given how often they try to dig info out of Cook and issues around innovation I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted to go into a meeting starting off with "So there.... I don't have to entertain any questions about innovation and you may surmise the next quarter will be a good one for us..."

Which would then be followed by a rise in Apple's stock.

Coinciding with the earnings report would be good business marketing.

In among all this excitement I've got a strange feeling.

I changed from a Microsoft /Linux combination to Apple when FCPX came out. I'd been keeping my eye on how Apple were going with the 64bit stuff anyway. Now reading people with more experience dealing with Apple's thoughts and opinions I've got a strong feeling I'm about to find out I just paid to take part in a beta program.

I don't want to be jumping the gun, but I've got that "Vista" feeling, except at least then I had the option to stick with a stable and complete XP 64 until 7 came out. 7 being FCPX 10.1 to vista being 10.0.0 - 10.0.9

I actually think FCPX 10.0 to 10.0.6 was the paid beta. :-) I expect 10.1 will be evolutionary, rather than a huge sea change. Some things may well be hugely evolutionary, but I don't think it's gonna look like a whole new App or anything. Or maybe it will... Either way, as long as they don't bring back tracks I'll be happy. :-)

What specifically have you been reading? Links...?

If 10.0 was a paid BETA program, then I've been happy to be part of it.

And it just makes me that much more excited for what the next version will be.

But as Philip Hodgetts of Intelligent Assistance recently tweeted-

You know, whatever they release people will be unhappy that it's not enough. Always the way with Apple.

And although I'm excited to see what's coming, I think we need to all keep our exceptions in check. As per Philip above, it's easy to build up this release TOO BIG in our minds. Surely there are many things they won't be able to get to this time around.

Not just Apple of course. I'd be happy if there were zero new features, but I've brought this up on occasion a before. No point going there again.

I'll shut my mind and waiting to see.

Sorry I forgot to add this. I'm just reading the general opinions and it seems I'm the only person that thinks Apple charging at this stage would be a bit of a piss take. Everywhere I read it seems payment is expected. I'm not shy of paying for products, and I'm not bitter or spiteful, but I am aware of what those with the power can get away with.

I think it would feel off if apple where to charge. If only because they are still building bridges over the issues when they first introduced FCPX. That's not to say I wouldn't buy the new version in a heartbeat. I guess we'll see what's what next month :)
