This is what I use
As it stands there is a function to have Audiofinder drop a selected clip in the timeline of Logic Pro and Pro tools (at the play head location).....maybe the developer could add FCPX to that list. We can dream.
Not wanting anyone to get their hopes up,
Sam Mestman has clarified this on Creative Cow:
'Just to clear a couple things up… I have no idea what Apple will be presenting… and please, if you listen to what I said on the grill, don’t read any tea leaves. As I said there, you should keep your expectations low, and all I really know is what’s listed on our site... '
As I said there, you should keep your expectations low
... it's time for a Hobbyist's update, after all this pro ... stuff, no serious hobbyist needs!
cosmetics of GUI/Yosemite-ishing
auto White Balance (as already in iMovie)
auto GoPro/fish-eye removal
auto slideshow maker
more templates (oops, no 'auto'? )
DVD templates .... <har har har, that would be a surprise!!>
... not meant too seriously, but that would be a disappointment for all NAB visitors - and increase FCPX purchases instantly by 30% ...
Apple has a standard dog and pony show they do. It'll just be; "here's where we came from, here's where we are, estimated numbers, here's a vague glimpse of the future that won't tell you anything at all." They've done these before, this is not ground breaking or new.
I have been to many of the Apple events and I can back up Ben on this. Unless you are asked to sign a NDA then you will not learn much about the future of the product. I heard on FCPGrill that all of the sessions at their suite at NAB will be recorded and then posted. Don't bet on Apple's presentation being videotaped. I once was to videotape and live stream a presentation from an Apple Engineer at our university. He informed me that he would be fired if he allowed himself and his presentation to be recorded.
If there's going to be an NAB release it's either going to be Thursday (or less likely) Monday.
Releasing on Friday is never a good idea because of potential support issues.
Releasing on Monday possible but gives little time to play with for developers who want to show it in their booths (unless they've been beta testing).
I know there are some that say Apple wouldn't time a release for a trade show but it would be extremely coincidental that it just happens to be released this close to NAB IMHO.
On the other hand there may be no release if it's not ready... and we can all grumble about how long Apple is taking for the next feature release.
As to "expectations" the longer they take the bigger the expectations will be.
Another Tuesday came and went, and no one has some comment about that... ?
Did anyone pass out from holding your breath for it? (just kidding)
One day, we will see the next update. And some day after that, we'll see yet another.
OS X 10.10.3 don't bring any groundbreaking technology to the table, so I'd highly doubt any correlation. I'd rather Apple take their time, do it right, and make us wait, rather than rush it, slap it together, not care, blow off innovation, and let us have it yesterday. Can't have it both ways. All that eating cake and such. But I am impressed with Photos. The auto controls are really effective, and the manual controls are sensitive enough for pro level work. I look forward to seeing what third party plugins crop up.
