As always, performance and stability should be targeted before anything else. At this time no-one denies anymore that speed and reliability are the two things that set FCP X apart from the other big NLEs. I hope the team will continue to concentrate on these unique seling points while adding some extra functionality, and leave the more specialized features to third-party developers so the core code does not get bloated by adding bells and whistles that only a few people really need.

I agree wholeheartedly. 1 million percent if that were possible. :-)

Not that it means anything, but iMovie just got updated to 10.1.1. It looks like bug fixes only. I can only hope some bug fixes will be released for FCPX soon too. I doubt 10.3 will be next, but I've been wrong before.

Updates for iMovie:

- Resolves an issue with YouTube sharing that could prevent sign in for users with multiple accounts
- Fixes a problem that could prevent White Balance adjustments from being applied to clips
- Sony XAVC S clips captured at 100 fps or 120 fps now play correctly
- Resolves an issue that could lead to incorrect display of still images
- Clips are now copied when dragged from the Project Media container to events in the Library list
- Stability improvements

My first reaction reading this feature for iMovie: WOT?!
I grew up with iM in the Dog-wash-days… Tapes. SD. MagicMovie.
Now supporting XAVC?? 120fps???

… 'til I realized, that now-a-days-fancy action-cams deliver such pro material.... :woohoo:

Habitual 'borders' differing amateurs from pros actually blend from b/w to grey gradients...

And:
Hard to imagine, what 'killer feature' the next major update of FCPX will have.- Yes, there's a long list to choose from, but if I'm in the position to marketing THE all new lighthouse thing (such as MultiCam, 3D titles,…) -I would have no clue, LOL!
… thrilling!!!

Main Stage 3.2.3 and Logic pro 10.2.1 released today, looks like apple is getting busy.
Among other things, improved retina support and improvements for the alchemy synth.

Only somewhat related, but there was an iOS update today to 9.2.1. Interesting that these updates are all on the same day.

Looking forward to the next update, would love to see a big focus on performance improvements.

I miss the days where there were FCP product evangelists. Back in legacy days when there was and NYFCP user group and it met in the Apple Store, there was an Apple FCP evangelist (Apple Staff) present.

Granted the evangelists are now us. When an update comes they'll be a big jump in social media and forum activity. Companies like Ripple Training and Larry Jordan will have their "what's new" videos.

______
Yesterday Documentary DP David Leitner did a presentation at NY Mopictiv. He mentioned he's a very big fan of FCPX. Had an evangelist been present I'd think (hope) that Apple would be talking to him. That that doesn't happen may mean the broader NLE user base just doesn't get a good scope on FCPX's professional use.

I saw that Apple have taken out a patent on Roles based audio mixing in FCPX so it may not come in the next update but it's definitely on their minds.

The patent was just granted. It was applied for in September, 2011.

I was watching the latest "Under 5" tip from Ripple Training and noticed that in their video the buggy video line that's always over the time code is gone.

I know Ripple Training gets access to new versions of FCP early (so they can provide training for it). Hopefully, this means the new version is close around the corner. :cheer:

Nope they may be using an earlier version for esthetics. We trainers do that. Apple strictly forbids using unreleased versions from being shown in any way publicly. Ripple would be dropped from the beta testing program in the blink of an eye if they did so. That is a simple fact. Any one who has participated in the Apple Seed program will verify that. You're reading way too much in to things. I think it is common sense that bug will be fixed in the next update.

The lines aren't there but if you look again closely, you'll see that the markers underneath for hours, minutes, seconds and frames are still off. So I think they're using a current version of FCPX, not anything unreleased.

The lines are intermittent. The caption offset is there for everyone. Neither the caption offset nor the lines appear in Yosemite.

I find it odd that Apple didn't at least push out an interim update to fix that timecode window bug.

A huge from what I heard update to Logic, yet nothing, not even a font update for FCPX. All we can do is wait, if Ripple know anything, it must be killing them to stay mute, of course their business depends on total secrecy, yet that does not jive with me.

Apple is all bout public beta, yet for the 2 apps that mean nothing to Apple financially, this product has been paid for many times over, if it is 2 or 3 million seats sold, that is nearly 1/2 a billion Dollars, along with that you need new gear, so close to if not over $1b for Apple and nothing in return!!!

Why is Logic so special and FCPX the ugly step-daughter??

If, (and that's a big if) Apple is planing on announcing a new mac pro in march, they may be waiting to release a version of FCPX optimized for that.
