Hi guys,

I just finished a short video for a friend, but I may/may not want to make some changes to it in the future.

I have all of the clips that I included in their video on my desktop computer. But I want to transfer all of it onto a an external hard drive, and delete the clips I used from my computer's hard drive to clear some space.

Is it possible to save this event, with all of it's already trimmed, edited clips etc. as a library that I can open at a later time if I want to add/edit/change anything?
Because I know that if I move clips around on my laptop form one folder to another, then that is reflected in my timeline in FCPX and it says "clip missing" or something like that.

So I want to essentially move all of this data onto an external hard drive, but keep the ability to be able to edit it in the future.

Hope that question makes sense.

Thanks

This explains how you copy a project (or an event, you'll see the difference) to a new library:

In your case, the part with consolidate is of major importance. This means that media in external folders or on external drives will be bundled inside that archived library.

Yeah make sure you have a definite idea on where you want things to go. I'm pretty sure there is no undo for this function
