But one aspect is also that I want this to automaticly start when a new user starts for the first time on that given machine... you see, some of us moves quite much around on different computers... and I need to find a way to automaticly start, and set up this....
I can not for each new person, do this manually on all machines that person might sit down to work on...
You have to evaluate your workflow to know if this can work for you, but the software is very versatile and once launched it is almost automatic, it does use some cpu and RAM but but this can also be adjusted .
If your people use the same user on the mac workstation it should be easy not to intervene with every new person using the mac. I think you should go through this page to evaluate if this software can be useful in your situation.
While these backup/sync apps are really helpful and recommended they won't fit the needs of Helge.
FCP was not made for groups and/or multi-user and that still sucks.
The "eco system setup " was thought for single/private usage and an educated home user. So all kind of effects (of whatever kind) were stored at a private place.
All the "fan community" didn't think about the consequences and enjoyed the extended option of Motion to create custom effects in their home directory and even made them available for others to store in their home directories .
In the times before current FCP these Motion stuff was stored by default in a system wide available folder. While this still can be done only a minority of plugin developers use this option.
The later on introduced option to store FX in the library made things even worse.
What it needs is an app like "FX Factrory for personal use" which controls user/system from outside.
If I would be a good programmer I would have done it years ago.
