Is there a way to use Final Cut Pro as the Master time code and sync it to logic as the slave?
I have done it in the past syncing Pro Tools and Logic. But now it would improve my workflow a lot to integrate FCPX with LPX. I am scoring this 4 minute video. And as I am scoring sometimes I find I want to tweak the timing of titles or edits in FC. It would be so much easier to do that in real time if they were sync'd rather then going back editing the video, making a not of where to make the changes, reimporting a new vid file, etc...
What I gather from this is that there is no legit protocol to exchange edits (in the broadest sense) between these two applications. Which discourages me . After all this time that‘s a disappointment ...
I don‘t have LPX (yet). I don‘t know if I would ever make good use of it. In the last decade, I made the occasional „score“ - very limited, just moody snippets, importing midi files into Garageband and playing around with synthetic instruments, without ever trying to synch it directly to my sound edit from FCP or later FCP X.
FCP X facilitates very complex sound design, insofar as every tiniest sound event stays firmly connected to it’s corresponding image/scene, no matter how many of them you stack, without the need to manage tracks.
As you can see from this comment, I don‘t have a serious audio background, and although I once bought and saw Larry Jordans tutorials on Soundtrack, I never felt the urge to use it. When others complained that FCP X didn‘t have an audio mixer, I thought, so what?
But I am willing to improve my skills. When before last year‘s Creative Summit there was an announcement for a demonstration of LPX and FCP X workflows (hosted by Mark Spencer, I believe), I was very interested. But there was no such topic eventually.
There seems to be no real use for LPX for FCP other than composing music. Is that a fair assumption?
The XML workflow would not solve my issue. I would like to be able to move around clips and titles while also move around audio elements, adjusting tempo, etc.
When I import score/music into FCPX I can edit the video but limited in editing the score. When I import FCPX (Video) into Logic I can edit all the music but none of the video. I want to be able to edit either pending on which seems more viable to make the edit to. Does that make sense?
If we could get FCPX to output MIDI TC or some other way that would be great.
FCPX has time code. And Logic has Time Code as well.. I don't know why the two can't sync using the standard time code values...
00:00:00.0 ( Min : Sec : Frames . SubFrames )
*don't really need the subframes but logic uses them so whatever.
I think the original poster intended to run them ( LP & FCPX ) in sync at the same time rather than export / import which is as we all know "improoveable " We basically started from zero wIIth fcpX not only concerning workflow
i still hope it was all worth for .
did the midi implementation from command post not work at all ?
