Thanks for that. The file is in Photo JPEG codec. Weird choice, but Canon does make them. You can batch convert all your files to ProRes in the Catalina Finder. What are you using to convert to H.265 in Mojave?

I like to convert mjpeg to hevc using fcpx and send to compressor. Can’t do it in Catalina, but the odd thing is motion will open it just fine. Same for QuickTime playback.

All they need to do is let mjpeg read at video levels instead of data levels.

You said you are able to convert in Mojave’. How are you doing that?

If you want to stay in Catalina you can just batch process to HEVC in Compressor without going through FCP. The file looks almost identical to ProRes and the waveform is the same, not below zero.
