FCPX just started crashing on export of an AVC-Intra 100 file with four mono tracks. Exporting as a multichannel file with audio determined by roles. I've been doing this without incident for the last month. Now it's started crashing. I've deleted render files and trashed preferences. Still crashing. I created a preset in Compressor and that works. Any ideas why this would suddenly start to crash after working fine? No new plugins installed. Here's the crash report. I've sent it to Apple.
I don't know why it's crashing. The code for this might be part of Apple Pro Video Formats, so you could make sure you have the latest version. Prior to Mojave this was updated on the App Store. Mojave and later it is updated in System Preferences>Software Update.
The call stack shows it is reading the timeline audio config then trying to export the file then crashing. For MXF reading, the code is in /Library/Video/Professional Video Workflow Plug-Ins/AppleMXFImport.bundle. For MXF writing I'm not sure what file contains the code.
For cases like this the best approach is often to trim down and isolate the replication scenario then contact Pro Apps support. The smaller and more reproducible the scenario the faster it will get fixed. The process of narrowing down the replication will often lead to a workaround until it is fixed.
If it doesn't happen on FCPX 10.4.8 on Catalina the chances if it being fixed are very low, although it's hypothetically possible they could issue a revised Pro Video Format file which is compatible with Mojave or earlier FCPX versions.
Thanks for the reply. The project is made up of an eight angle multicam clip and five of the angles have audio filters applied to the audio components therein. That is, I think, the main difference between this and the previous edits which have exported without issue. I'll do some test and report back. Thanks again. James
