Why do you need 3rd party hardware? FCPX does not work that great with 3rd party hardware. The Intensity Shuttle is no longer listed on the BMD website. I imagine it has been discontinued.

3rd party hardware is required by any NLE to output an SDI broadcast signal to a broadcast monitor.

Blackmagic makes the Micro Converter that I believe can translate HDMI to SDI and SDI to HDMI.

I did.

And if you simply need HDMI out, and your Mac doesn't have a port built-in, simply get a USB to HDMI adapter.

"FCPX does not work that great with 3rd party hardware." Simply not a truly universal statement, once again. But go ahead and flame on as usual.

I never said FCPX does not work. It does not work as good as Edius or Premiere Pro. That being said please make a video of FCPX switching between 480i, 720p and 1080i without having to open and close FCPX as demonstrated in my video. Premiere Pro and Edius can do it without having to constantly open and close the program. I can play HDV 1080i using FCPX and it never looks as good as when I use Premiere Pro or Edius. You would say the same thing if you seen them both side by side. FCPX looks decent but it does not look as good as Premiere Pro or Edius.
