Hey everyone, I recently updated to the latest version of FCPX and have been experiencing an issue overwriting to the primary storyline. I have a piece of B-Roll that i'd like the drop straight down as usual but now the clip is snapping to the end of the last clip on the primary timeline. And if I try dropping both clips of B-Roll down, they just go on either side of that last clip before the placeholder.

Did I perhaps accidentally enable a keyboard shortcut with my fat fingers?

Are you editing inside a clip or a compound clip? Can’t tell from the screenshots.

Working fine for me in a Project and a Compound. Are you using Option-Command-⬇ ?

I'm editing in a project without any compounds (yet). My other libraries are behaving normally so I'm thinking I must have accidentally pressed a keyboard shortcut.

No luck with a keyboard shortcut or going through the menu. The workaround so far has been filling the gap with a blank generator, re-timed to fit, and then overwriting the B-roll to primary.

As Ben said, Shift+CMD+Down Arrow should do the trick but apparently, there is an unknown issue preventing this.

Press "P" then select both B-roll clips and drag the selection onto the Primary timeline while keeping the Shift key pressed (the latter to ensure that you don't move the selection while dragging it). Does this work?

Could you post a screenshot that shows the top of the timeline pane and the timeline index. Ronny’s method is the quickest way around the problem, but I’m curious about what might be causing it. There is no shortcut that disabled this function.

Go to the Final Cut Pro menu, to Commands, and make sure Default is selected.

Next, go to the Apple menu, System Preferences, Keyboard, Shortcuts, and click the Restore Defaults button.

Then see if it works.
