TOPIC: Simulate this Walking Dead effect?

Simulate this Walking Dead effect? 26 Oct 2015 15:30 #69849

In the opening credits of The Walking Dead, there is a warping effect which almost appears to be a zolly/focusing effect. You can see what I'm talking about in this clip between 11 & 13 seconds:

Any ideas on how to replicate or fake this effect in Motion or even inside of FCP?

There is a Bulge filter in Motion 5 that will do this.

Hi jeremy,

I threw a few filters together in Motion, and published the effect in our depository:
www.fcp.co/forum/simulated-effects/24465...-of-dolly-zoom#70693

imho, it's a new variation of a DollyZoom, 'cause when you watch closely, the inner part of the frame keeps its size, and just the outer parts get buldged ... so, it is not just the single buldge filter but plus a subtle zoom in ...

The effect has just two silders, read my advice in the plugin corner ....
It's keyframeable, so you can re-enact that animated look as in your trailer.

enjoy movie making!
