Cineplay digital rebellion

***Winners Announced***

Digital Rebellion have just released CinePlay, a professional video player application for the iPhone and iPad. There's a lot of features in the app such as guides and markers and we've also got three copies to giveaway.

Jon Chappell at Digital Rebellion knows his stuff and over the years he's built up an impressive portfolio of applications that help all editors (not just FCP) to fix, organise and improve their projects and workflow.

New to the lineup is Cineplay, a $9.99 professional video player for the iPhone and iPad. The app does a lot more than just play movies as you would expect, one of the huge features is proper timecode and a proper timecode display. (Big cheer in the office!)

  • Playback of movies stored in Camera Roll, the Videos app, Dropbox, transferred via iTunes, or H.264 movies located at a URL
  • All timings are referenced by timecode, with 00:00:00:00 as the start point if no timecode track is present
  • Step forward and back frame-by-frame
  • Add markers during playback and jump between them (iPad only)
  • Export markers to common marker list formats (iPad only)
  • Adjustable playback speed and looping
  • Mask and crop to various aspect ratios
  • Flip and rotate video
  • Draggable timecode overlay
  • 4:3 and 16:9 safe area overlays
  • Output timecode to Cut Notes
  • Editmote remote control
  • Export single frames to Camera Roll
  • Download videos from the web to your device

We have very kindly been given 3 copies of the app to giveaway. To have a chance of winning one of the 3 apps each worth $9.99, all you have to do is tweet the title of this story and include @FCPdotCo in the tweet. The easiest way to do this is from the tweet button on the top left of the article. The winners will be picked at random from the tweets from now until Monday morning, so get tweeting!

A very clever app from Digital Rebellion that we're sure will help in a lot of production scenarios, especially the client approval process. We can see one use maybe Jon hadn't thought of and that is stepping through our CCTV footage shared via wifi from the server.
