I actually understand what AppleGuru is saying, this is something I have heard from students and users that I have interacted with.

Regarding to the comments to Ripple Training and MotionVFX.
Yes Ripple Training offers really good quality of training how learn the Software, also they have some small Tutorials which are very helpful. Which is good starting point for new users. But going into the heavy Motion Graphics or Visual Effects terrain there is a major lacking of Tutorials or Influencers on the net.
This could be; nobody has taking the challenge or the Apps are not as present then for example After Effects.

For MotionVFX, they produce some really cool "heavy Motion Graphics" templates, I can imagine they are more interested selling the templates than offering the training how to make the animation in Apple Motion.
Now if they offer this knowledge to the public... would Apple Motion have much higher status. Definitely yes!

Ahhh naming convention and organisation... my favourite subject.

@FCPX.guru I think he mean with Great video as a example for the Project Name that he write above.

Anyways.
We kinda adopted over the years to online delivery and plus added some of our own flavour.

For all our stored delivery we use a client Alias and Unique ID... then the project name, content type, language, resolution and codec. It would look like this.
FCP-20_1234-ProjectName-Full-EN-1920x1080-ProRes.mov
FCP-20_1234-ProjectName-Spot-EN-1080x1080-h264.mov
FCP-20_1234-ProjectName-Spot-ES-1080x1080-h264.mov
FCP-20_1234-ProjectName-Teaser-EN-1920x1080-ProRes.mov
FCP-20_1234-ProjectName-Teaser-EN-1920x1080-h264.mov
FCP-20_5678-ProjectName-Full-EN-1920x1080-ProRes.mov

We did had the discussion to replace the resolution with the aspect ratio.

So sorry if this is in the wrong section of the forum, but I don't see anything that applies...
I am about to pull the trigger on purchasing Hedge to transfer a couple of cards at a time to several locations at a time. This seems like a great product. But the Ripple Training guys (I'm a fanboy) always make a big deal out of camera archives. What do you all think? (And I don't have drive space to do both Hedge transfers and Cam Archives.) Thanks!

I know this is a bit dusty, but I will add my thoughts for future readers.
From my experience as Data Wrangler, if you are going to transfer media from a "reel" camera card. You defiantly want something that will also checksum-verification.
Usually we do no less than 2 Drives on a production, 3 is more an optimal number.
On my side I always have been using SilverStack which is more target for a large production. But there should be tools out there in a pretty reasonable price that will do both checksum and multiple destination.

Peace out

Yeah, I am getting this allot that the color facilities only need a ProRes. But they actually do expect that the RED footage is set in the wanted RAW settings.

Check out your RED RAW Settings before kicking out the ProRes.

How were you transferring the license to a client? Just curious. Because most royalty-free licenses are non-transferable. Who has a transferable license?

With the proper commercial license... to go deeper into the subject I will have to link up with legal or my PM.

artist.io
3.5. The License is personal and nontransferable. Licensee is the person whose name is specified in the License purchase form. To the extent the user is a legal entity which is not a private individual, its name will be specified in the License purchase form and it will be the Licensee.

Just heads up, you might want to check their Licensing agreement, he had drop them last year.
Since the license is not transferable, the clients wasn't able to hold the license only subscriber.

If you look at it that way, Star Wars Episode 7 actually still used allot of human extras in costumes plus CGI. In a way, the Special Effects modeling turned digital.

Black Hawk Down still got its awards and I think nobody noticed what was CGI and wasn't. B)

My experience with Final Cut Pro X is, the more different formats and resolution you have it is better to transcode ether Proxy or Optimized. Escepcillay for large feature projects.
Actually, I would suggest this in any NLE for better performance

So a week ago, I bought an Apple Refurb 8-core Mac Pro (about $1K more than a tricked out MBP) but after a week, I couldn't resolve that it froze 10-20 times a day. Best theory was the aging D700 GPUs were incompatible with modern 4K monitor etc. But nobody really could say as so few Apple techs know the nMP.

So for those of us who need a desktop for use with multiple monitors, audio interfaces, raids, legacy eSata drives etc, the MBP floats to the top. It hasn't hung once and is as snappy or snappier than the 8-core nMP was (when it wasn't frozen). Time will tell.

The keyboard is junk and the aircraft carrier sized track pad a joke. But it's off to the side. The touch bar could be handy with a reach and the retina display a nice video output monitor. Plus I finally have a camera and built in mic. So there's a couple mice aspects to it over a classic desktop. Otherwise, for me, it's a very small desktop computer. YMMV

I actually can't complain about the keyboard I find much better then the latest desktop Keyboard.
But I am interested in what monitors you are using, on my side we have a few Mac Pros with the D300, D500 and D700 GPU cards. No issues powering dual 4K screens plus a monitor over HDMI on all systems.

It's a great idea t be able to edit from anywhere but I wonder how is Apple going to face the problem of storage. How are we going to access files through an iPad Pro that are stored in RAIDs and are in the amounts of terabytes? Or edit from a remote place with no or slow access to the internet?

Well, the same way as with other tools out there or how Apple solved the iTunes store, Photos, and other iCloud services.
Everything is online as proxy or so. it would be cool to see a service where the Proxies are stored on the iCloud that are easily accessible with iPad... edit anywhere.

I would say this is Adobes iMovie, nothing wrong with it.
3 tracks of video or not, I have documentaries that only used two tracks of video. ;)

I find it interesting to see Adobe going in this direction. Lets see what will come out of the other camps.

Why is this the end of Final Cut Pro X?
Adobe Project Rush looks like iMovie with one major benefit, which still can't believe Apple isn't able to pull this off with there knowledge and infrastructure .
"Access projects from any device and continue editing" This is actually pretty big.
