Sound like you probably want to use 'Send to Compressor' - in there you can create a custom preset that has higher than 4K resolution and should theoretically maintain the Metadata.

Hope that helps!

You can also check out Youtube.com/audiolibrary for a bunch of free tracks that are provided by YouTube (as submitted by artists).

Those will definitely not get taken down. Not always the best stuff there but as JarrodMFay mentioned above, you get what you pay for.

Best of luck!

Doug created a new topic ' Reverb Remover Plugin Recommendations?' in the forum. 3 weeks ago

Hi Everyone,

I'm working on filming some stuff remotely using an iPhone 11 Pro Max. We have a good set up but depending on the space sometimes the audio is a little live and I would love to purchase a plugin to remove some of that live-ness but I'm wondering what people recommend?

Has anyone experience with EchoRemover 2 from CrumplePop? Is this one worth the money? Any other suggestions?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

Thanks!
Doug

There are lots of editors out there. Just let her know if she wants the gig she has to do it in FCPX. If that’s a deal breaker for her, I’m sure you’ll be able to find another great candidate.

Did you select Audio Passthrough when compressing the files? It’s been a little while since I’ve done this but my understanding was that the key was to have the audio channel configuration be the same. So if it’s the same wrapper and channel configuration it should work regardless of bitrate.

Good luck! Let us know if you find a solution.

Would it not be possible to just use Compressor to compress your large files to the size you want, make sure to keep the same file name and audio layout, then take your large files off line (put them on a different drive or something) and use the Relink Media feature? That should then ripple through all of the edits. It's essentially a Proxy workflow (if you're making your own proxies)

Also, if you would like to be able to quickly copy the timecode FROM FCPX so you can paste it elsewhere, you can create a custom shortcut for the Copy Timecode or Copy Timecode at Playhead commands. Just a side note that could be useful.

Would it not work to just create an additional story line? That way it stays in the timeline, you don't have to deal with organizing another clip in the browser, and you don't have to deal with the behaviours of a compound clip like changing things in other projects. But you would still be able to move it around as a group, apply stabilization, all that other stuff.

You're absolutely right, I should have said 'drag' the in point on your audio either left or right, I didn't mean to suggest detaching the audio.

I have personally found that if you expand the audio and then grab the audio and move it, either left or right, it will 'break' the audio fade so you can have it work as you like.

Try deleting all your render files by selecting "Delete Generated Library Files" in the file menu. Turn off your background render while you're trying the export and hopefully it will help you out. To me, it looks like corrupted render files which happens sometimes, particularly if your source media is file and it plays back properly inside FCPX.

It kinda sounds like the machine doesn't have the proper codecs installed to be able to play back the video. If it's a machine that doesn't have any NLE on it, it may not have the Pro Video Formats installed.

Also, if you do find yourself at any point using your iPad to do colour correction, be sure to turn off the True Tone feature so you're looking at a consistent image.

Doug replied to the topic 'Random pixelation - any ideas?' in the forum. 7 months ago

As a follow up, I literally just had this happen. It was pixelating and crossing frames with a different clip from earlier in the project. I deleted the render files and it seems to have worked in this case.

I've run into this problem as well, including on a project I'm currently working on. Unfortunately, I don't have a guaranteed fix, but I've found occasionally if I Delete all my Render Files it will help. Looks to me like it's a rendering error but that doesn't fix it every time.

Give that a try and see if it helps! (I'm on Mojave, 10.14.6, FCPX 10.4.6 as reference)

I can't speak to your specific issue, but I have found that .psd files are a bit of a pain in FCPX so I always try to convert them to .png files and work with those. I've never had trouble with a .png file but I have had other issues with .psd files.

Best of luck!
