Hi guys,

thanks, this helped a lot. I sort of lived under a stone the past months and was not really aware of the benefits of the Vega 20. After watching some Youtube-Clips I am sold. Managed to talk my boss into getting the model you suggested, Dmitri :) Yay!

Hi all!

I just received the good news that there's money for a refurbished Macbook Pro! Yay!

Now to stay within the budget I can either opt for more RAM (32GB instead of 16GB) or a faster processor (2,9GHz 6-Core instead of 2,6GHz 6-Core). The SSD will be 1TB anyway.

What would you consider the better choice for FCPX and why? I do hardly ever need more than four 4K-Streams in my multicam setups. My most time consuming task is to sometimes stitch GoPro Fusion 360° footage (takes ages with my 2015 MBPR at the moment).

Thanks for some guidance! I am happy that there's a budget for me and would like to spend it wisely.

Hi guys!

I want to make a dream come true and live and work out of a camper for a year or so. This requires some changes in my workflow and it would be lovely if someone could point me in the right direction!

What I need:

I want to share the workload with a friend back home as my assistant editor. He will log all the clips and delete the ones that we do not need. He works in Premiere. His stage of work shall then be sent to me via internet so that I can continue in FCPX. When I am done, I might want to send it back to the other guy for color grading and graphic work.

We will each have a harddisk with the full footage for the first job. For following jobs it could happen that I do not have the full material and we might have to transfer it via internet. I am on my mobile connection which is unlimited but not fast, so it would be great to work with proxies.

I know there were tools to copy projects from Premiere to X and vice versa but to be honest I lost track of this because there never was a need for me. Also FCPX has changed in the way it does color correction and other things, so not sure if there is a new approach?

Any advice is very welcome. Thanks for your time!
Sebastian

I guess it‘s dead simple and you just need to blow the background layer up some more. If the source is 4:3 it has to be blown up so much that the left and right border reach to the sides of the canvas.

You seem to have optimized it for 16:9.

Could rig that scale to a checkbox „4:3“ for example.

Hope this helps, not sure if I got you 100% right!

Nice. Anyone got some secret sauce on how to hide a lavalier? I once had this sound guy who would place it inside the tie-knot. It worked! Let‘s share!

Hi Meegwell,

you say your finger's getting sore from clicking. Do you know that in preferences you can allow a "tap" instead of a "click"? That might take some stress of your finger.

What Tom says. Neat Video is one of the most useful plugins and saved my life more than once. Don't judge it by its cheap looks interface-wise, it can really do magic. But beware: apply (or activate) the filter last thing before you export - this stuff is resource hungry and might slow down your machine and export time big time.

Hi Den,

you have to work around because FCPX does not allow for keyframing on color correction.

So blade your clip into three parts, correct them individually and then apply a crossfade transition between them. You can adjust the duration of the transition to match your needs.

Good luck!

Hi Axel, hi Ronny,

the warning was about one very special configuration of MBP. Think it was with in-built Intel graphics or so, not 100% sure. No other systems were affected so you should be fine with your iMac (I am with mine!).

In Denver's last mail he said that Apple already addressed the issue in their new beta so it sounds like it's not his fault.

Have fun, CFP is a great tool! And I love it even more since I use the Tangent Ripple with it, my first real color correction controller ;)

I guess Axel meant "otherwise meaningless". The emotion is there. I really enjoy the use of gobos. Didn't know that cookies might somehow derive from "Kokolores" and have to admit that I love that story ;)

Sebastian Pleuse replied to the topic 'Roll Tool problem' in the forum. 3 years ago

I have seen this, too. My workaround is to lift the clip Imwant to roll above the primary storyline (CMD+ALT+UP ARROW), roll it and put it on the primary again (CMD+ALT+DOWN ARROW). Then delete the leftover audio. But I agree it is really annoying.

You do know that many people see 25p (or 24p respectively) as a gold standard for a cinematic look? I don't want to smart ass around. Just sayin because sometimes as an editor one pays too much attention or spends too much work on something that might not be necessary a all. Why have all the hassle if it's not really necessary?

Hi Axel, just to let you know that you are not alone. I have the same issue on both my 5k iMac and my MBP. Not always, but many times. I ejected hundreds of cards by just removing them because of that. Luckily there was never any damaged done. Feedback time!

The links are somehow scrambled, Karsten. Because they go over two lines, I assume?
