Thank you. That's what I don't understand, it's not there.
In my FCPX project I have 3 clips with some speedup retiming (variable speed + speed transitions), using Optical Flow
After exporting the color grader says he sees jittery footage, e.g missing frames
I thought I'd try from Motion to see if I get the exact same results. I'm using Automatic Duck and the project translates well, but I can't see the Optical Flow option in the properties of the clips, where it should be offered.
Am I missing something ? Shall I remove speed transitions ?
Thank you for your help
Thank you so much for everything.
This is the way to go indeed. I have created a new Library, and I'm dragging some of the older edits in the new one, making sure everytime that I don't add a bad apple (if I do, I revert it with my backup).
Let's see if it works.
You've been immensely helpful
Thank you so much Joema.
Unfortunately I've already tried all of this. There seem to be nothing wrong with the disk, and the files.
All of this happened after I forced quit FCPX. But restoring an earlier database should have worked.
I am puzzled.
OK my work is collapsing further and further.
I managed to work today, but at the end of the day I have files that are written as "modified" and hence with the red warning.
I didn't alter them at all obviously.
This is becoming scary.
I'd say this plugin is probably better
But it's expensive, I don't know if you can use for 30 days
Thank you for your knowledgeable post Joema.
I did replace the database with one that was showing no errors but still got errors. So that might come from the filesystem, but it's a MacOs Journaled.
Digital Rebellion is a pain, having to apply it on every project in the library...
I have no choice but to keep editing, crossing fingers it doesn't get worse...
I'm in serious trouble. I'm at a very advanced version of the edit of a film, and after a Force Quit of FPCX because it was unresponsive, I got this messageL
After quitting and opening again, the Project I was working on was gone. I searched its name it appeared with a different logo (not the logo of a project) and an exclamation point.
I had to delete it (and lost several days of work).
The worst is that I have Backups for Final Cut Pro, but even when I regress to an older version which was working... I get the same problem !!!!
I used Digital Rebellion Project Repair, Backups for Final Cut Pro, I did checkdisk on the hard drive... and nothing helped.
So after an hour of despair I deleted that corrupt project and started again... but the same error message is appearing !
What to do now ???
Thanks a lot !!
Thanks a million Joema. That's super informative.
I've sent feedback to FCPX, for what it's worth...
Thanks a ton Redifer. Long time no talk.
That's good news. Unfortunately I'm dealing with the infamous Optical Flow bug, with has been running around for as long as I remember. Basically FCPX says "Analyzing for Optical Flow" forever, nothing happens. And if I want to export, it says those renders are missing.
And deleting all render & optical flows files won't do much either.
It is happening almost every time I use it, but sometimes only later in the project.
Do you know anything about it ? I read in the past that it had to do with Speed Transitions, but I'm not sure.
In the meantime I had to to the retimings in Resolve. That's so sad
I believe it doesn't matter. I let it to General.
I thought that Coremelt's TrackX would do the trick, but I haven't used it in a while. If I were you I'd write them.
I hope you are all well.
After editing and picture locking my new film, we noticed in the Color Grading room that 3 clips where I had applied a speed-up ramp were looking very jittery.
I have two questions:
- does Optical Flow do anything for speeding up clips ? (it should't have, I guess)
- one clip only has a 10% speed up ramp but it looks jittery and unnatural. I don't know if it's expected behaviour. Would doing the speed up in Baselight bring better results ?
Thanks a lot for your help
Thanks a lot Ben !
Hi there !
Quick workflow question. The index is very handy because you can watch your edit while disabling/enabling entire groups of clips with one button.
Is there a way to do exactly the same for an export ? Meaning REALLY disabling/enabling entire role groups ?
Thank you !
