Upgrade the graphics card of the old Mac Pro to something with 2GB + of VRAM. That's going to run circles around the GPUs in the new Mac Minis...

It's pretty zippy in FCPX actually. Looking forward to seeing a version of X tuned for Yosemite to really push it.

That'd be my last choice for FCPX or a MacBook Air- due precisely to the GPU which is what almost exclusively powers FCPX. Any current Mac will technically run FCPX but your performance- i.e. fluidity of the interface and speed of transcodes/filters/effects/export, etc will vary widely as you go up and down the line.

These days the machines to get are the higher end MacBook Pros with Retina, the retina iMac and the Mac Pros in order of increasing power.

If you're in the Bay Area this coming week (or know someone who will be) please join us for a little FCPWORKS event on Wednesday, September 24th from 6pm to 9pm at Digital Garage in San Francisco.

This one will focus on using video in conjunction with application development, startups, crowdfunding, and tutorial videos. We'll show easy ways to create and share HD and 4K video.

We'll also have a special guest from Apple presenting Final Cut Pro X and Mac Pro workflows.

For more details, please check out:

It's in Flash- perhaps you don't have Flash installed on your Safari browser. (which is honestly a pretty wise move all things being equal.) I'd suggest getting the Chrome browser, which has it's own embedded version of Flash so you can pull it out just for this sort of thing while keeping Safari flash free.

In that case you'd need to design the title as a graphic within Photoshop or make your own title in Motion. The built-in titles apply the gradient per character.
