Did anyone notice that all the thumbnails aren't updated with the new UI yet? Not that it's hugely important, but I understand it would have meant a complete page overhaul.
ProRes LT is back. It's there in render settings, and in Master File export.
I was a bit of a fan of LT in FCP7 - a good balance of 'good enough' quality for most of what I do and more modest file size. Very happy to see it return.

The Browser has an option to "Show Used Media Ranges." Oh, happy day!
OK, I'm going to quit 10.1 on my MacBook and get back to finish the cut in 10.0.9 that should have been out of the door this morning, Jonathan, get a grip. Sheesh.

So any updates to the color board? White balance button? I'm kind of surprised it doesn't look more like iMovie with the flatter layout. The new compressor looks great, I think I might actually be able to figure out how to use it now.

Motion's update is sure a let down! lol
I would have liked R3D file support in Compressor!

There's no denying that we expected more. Apple didn't make it a paid update because it added less features than 10.0.3. But if it has improved performance for large projects than it's worth it for me. I think this is a new platform that will see more features when it gets to 10.1.3 or so.

Definately appears the major aim of this update was the implementation of the Library model of Media Management and the rest of the updates and new features are smaller things, but some very nice stuff in the list. You'd guess they'll next look at other major feature areas. I'm hoping major audio workflow improvements will be next on the list.
Still surprised they've not called Compressor version X as that is now a major redesign for previous!

My guess is they had to do a lot of work on FCPX to make it completely compatible with the new mac pro and I assume the ones getting that black tube will see a dramatic increase in speed&power.
I also think no-one expected this many updates on different software even if in some cases it's only minor things that are added.
Personally I would have loved to see major Audio update to fcpx in the sense of a very good & solid roundtrip with logic x but I guess we'll have to wait on that for a while.
It's fun to see everyone so excited here, I'm guessing members here with kids will be extra generous for christmas this year (the ones buying the new tube excluded of course due to lack of remaining funds

Any thing at all on collaboration?
oh I just read this:
Sharing with Xsan
Put your events and projects on a central SAN to speed up collaboration between multiple editors. Place your libraries and media anywhere on the network to optimize media management for large facilities and multiple users. Start a project on one system and hand it off to another editor to finish on a different system connected to the same SAN. Final Cut Pro is optimized for Xsan to ensure responsive skimming, playback, and editing when working across a network connection.
