I've moved my family from Michigan to Wyoming. Somewhat considering a name change to go with the whole life transformation thing we've done with ourselves. On the other hand...maybe not. Have you changed the name of your company? What were the results? Good, bad, indifferent? Discuss.

What would be the purpose? Do you have referrals or testimonials for the previous company name? It is a significant thing to do, and can set you back a bit. I've done it twice, but over the last few decades, and when I drastically changed exactly what services/products I sold. If I moved, and did the same thing, I'd want to bring my reputation and testimonials along, so I'd keep the name. Folks are more inclined to trust "we moved" to "we're brand new". Name change means you're starting over from scratch. Stuff under old business name, folks won't trust (unconsciously) to apply to the new business name. Folks will wonder why change the name of a perfectly good, successful business? What past screw ups are you trying to hide?

Now, if you are trying to break from the past, start over, leave the badness behind, then by all means change the name, get a different hair style, etc.

But I'm assuming this life transformation isn't going from abject poverty and failure to a new shot at life, so no, keep the old name, it has a foundation, build on it. That's my vote.
