I have just recently been used FCP 5.1 and I have realized it is the most confusing software I've ever had (don't make fun of me) and at the end of the editing process, the stuff that I do is barely meeting my standards anyway. The biggest problem I've had lately is with Live Type. It used to be in my old editing software that you type the text and just drag it down into the timeline, now you have to make sure everything is straight then render and export and then upload it to FCP, and if you want a video in the background of your text it's even harder, the video skips, and the text looks so pixelated. Fonts that I download never work, so I have to end up using the boring fonts that come with Live Type.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks

Ok, a couple of things here - if you're finding FCP confusing, you would probably benefit from some proper training rather than trying to work it out for yourself. There are loads of things on YouTube or, better still, spend a few pounds on the excellent training videos from Ripple Training or Lynda.com. These things are worth every penny and will get you up to speed in no time.

As for LiveType - make sure you have set the project preferences to match your video project and everything should be fine. Once you've created your title (not sure what you meant by everything being straight) save it, then click on the small icon in the title bar next to the name of your project. By holding down the mouse button, you can drag this down from the title. Next, use Command-Tab to switch to FCP and you can drop your LiveType project straight into the timeline. Easy!

Hope that helps.
