Import AVCHD files (.mts) to Final Cut Pro was created by vikitoire
Hello everybody,
I don't know if I'm in the right section to post this question but I'll try it anyway
I have a Handycam Sony CX730E and the file format of the rushs are AVCHD or .mts. The problem is that Final Cut Pro doesn't recognize this kind of format.
So I found a solution for the moment which is to convert the .mts files through imovie to become .mov files. But the files become way too heavy and loose their quality. For example, if I record my images in 50 images/sec with the camera, imovie transforms it in 25 images/seconds. So for example I can't do proper slow motion images.
So i'm wondering if you would know a way to use this kind of files in their original quality with Final Cut Pro 7? Or maybe there is a program that I can download to convert the files?
Thanks for your answer and sorry for my English.
Victoire

Hi Victoire,
Have you trie to import the files using the import media window right inside of Final Cut Pro x (command i)?
You can also make an archive of those files to keep their integrity at the same time.
The ripple training guys have a video on their youtube page that explains it quite well.
Can't track it down right now, but here's the link to some of the episodes.

If I recall, it was a pretty recent episode.
