Hi all, I'm new to the forum but not FCP! Having some trouble and hoping someone here may be able to help out.
I bought a new Mac Mini 2.6GHz Intel Core i7 running 10.8.3. I can't get FCP to work on it. The install goes correctly but then when I try to initially open the app I get this warning message Waveform Cache Folder read/write settings, I click "ok" to make the changes but the program just crashes before I can reset the folder.
Things I've tried:
Searching for the same problem on Creative COW and other forums, no one seems to be having the same problem.
I verify and repaired permissions on my HD.
Done several clean uninstalls with FCS Remover and reinstalled from the same dmg I've been using for years.
I've done a PRAM and SCM restart
I made sure I had read/write permissions on any folder in my system that was titled Waveform Cache. When that didn't work, I deleted them all.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled every time I've tried some thing new.
I'm more concerned that the program is crashing rather than the read/write permissions. Frankly now that I've erased all the folders with that name, FCP hasn't even created that folder. Any suggestions on what I could try next?

I got it to work! Removed all the external drives and went into the permission section of my internal drive. I then clicked "apply to enclosed items" which somehow allowed me access to the System Settings in FCP. I then set the Waveform/Tumbnail/AutoSave Vault to a folder I created called FCP on the computer buried in the user structure. Now it works.
Hope this helps someone down the road...
