FCP7.0.3 Hangs. Started with a bad fan. when replacing it, Apple repair damaged then replaced the Mother board. Still major trouble with everything. Upgraded to yosemite and the machine became a boat anchor. Twice wiped the drive, used target mode from my lap top after Apple wiped my drive. I did this twice as the first time machine restore (Not System) never restarted. After second wipe I only reinstalled FCS3.
Hung during Log and Transfer on my first attempt. Saw some red exclamation points. P2 media. Tried to force quit. That failed. Then the Finder hung. Pulled the plug. Restarted several times and FCP would not start.I than dragged an older project to the icon, it started and it worked for less than ten edits. Pasting filters actually. not even an edit. I did just discover it is only seeing 4 gigs of ram (WTF?) vs 16. I did the proper updates for 7.0 to 7.0.3
I have 3 jobs I cant deliver and 3 more to shoot this week!
iMac 2.93 Intel Core i7
Should be 16Gig
I feel like I would migrate to Premier CC before I would go to FCPX
Any Suggestions?
Thank You In Advance

When you say it only sees 4 GB of RAM, what only sees it?
If the Mac (which I'em guessing) itself only sees 4 GB in the About this Mac window then you have bad RAM.
On a Mac that has more than 4 GB of RAM installed, Final Cut Pro allows a maximum memory allocation of 2.5 GB.

On your feeling migrating to another NLE, going from Final Cut Pro 7 to Adobe Premiere CC is not that bad considering they build on the same concept and Adobe offers Final Cut Pro 7 hotkey settings. But on the performance, speed and workflow wise. I'em happy to use Final Cut Pro X over Premiere any day.

But back to your issues, you could try the trial on both Premiere and Final Cut Pro X see how it reacts to your hardware.
First impression is that your Mac having a issue.

Hi Scott,

This has nothing to do with FCP, it's a hardware issue. You only see 4 GB RAM of the 16 GB installed. This either means you have faulty RAM modules, or the RAM isn't placed correctly. Faulty or improperly installed RAM can cause your computer to crash or to show unexpected behavior.

So the first thing you need to do is check your RAM, or have it checked.
