Play out

Hello, I'm not sure that I'm in the right topic but I'll have to play out some works on Betadigital and I'm working on a Imac 27" with fcp 7. Do you know how can i do this? Is there some manufacturers selling externe video cards who can play out SDI signal?

You can't use an internal card like a Kona or Blackmagic. Don't know if an MXO2 will interface with the iMAc either.

Cheapest solution would be to find somebody who can do this for you.

MXO2 is your only option at this point, will work with iMacs.
It'll let you print to tape, but not do real color correction, to be clear.
If you have a Thunderbolt iMac, both BlackMagic and AJA (the better of the two designs) both have T'bolt based I/O boxes coming out this fall/winter.

Or you can with the AJA io over the FireWire port.

You can I/O to tape, but the AJA box won't do boradcast level signal to SDI for color grading and QA work. You can't get enough data over FW to match the raw SDI signal.

Well it can send a 10-bit ProRes signal over FireWire... but

he only needs a play out back to tape...

My point is, a compressed digital signal is not an SDI signal. But yes, it will do Print To Tape just fine.

Not sure about the full tech side but AJA thinks differently on there AJA IO HD and FireWire.
