Can you keep timecode in an aiff? was created by Stuart Hadley
I'm looking at improving the media management of some of our editors. one big problem we have are variable sample rates. We wanted to look at audio coming in at 48khz in aiff but have realised some of our sync audio is recorded in wav with timecode and turning it to aiff looses the timecode element.
We were thinking aiff originally as we know its a preferred apple format compared to windows which prefers wav. We know FCP 7.0.3 takes either but i have had experience in the past where .wav have caused system crashs.
So the question is does anyone know of a way to convert .wav to .aiff and keep timecode info or is it impossible.

FCP X supports WAV. Not sure why it would crash your Mac. Usually recording devices are the only source of TC in audio files.

Unfortunately editors and broadcasters in UK are reluctant to embrace FCPX so we're still using FCP7.
Makes sense on recording devices being the only source of TC. I just wanted to check.
