To stabilize a clip, I analysed the movement with three trackers, and applied a camera matching the move.
It worked fine, preview was good. But after export, I encountered frames with ghosting artifacts. I have absolutely no idea on this. It is definitely not motion blur and there is neither frame blending nor optical flow applied... as I said everything was fine in the preview.
I'm very interested in travel films so I often encounter handheld footage in post. I like the fcpx internal stabilizers. Tripod mode works really well with fixed objects. If an object is moving Core Melt's Lock & Load often provide better results.
But there are some shots neither of this tools work or they all produce a wobbling background. Than the camera match move method comes into play. It's the most complex way to stabilize a shot but sometimes the last hope;)

hmmm, as nobody knows, I mean really knows, how Motion processes internally such tasks, for example the new usage of the Metal framework (which is since vers 5.4 is in use for Optical Flow) could be the culprit? Yes, you mentioned, you don't use OF, … but does Motion know?
Use Feedback/Enhancement or Bug Report, maybe it catches attention of someone of the mythical MotionDevTeam … hahaha …
Okay, I think the problem concerning the ghosting artifacts was a wrong "field order" setting: I now changed it to "none" and everything is fine. To be frank, I have no idea about this field order thing... I would be thankful for an explanation what that is.
@Karsten: I'm busy to test the method futher but I think it can handle some problems better than FCPX stabilizers and Lock & Load. It might be even more powerful in combination with other stabilizers. If I found the time to do a little video tutorial on this I will link it in the How To section!
