ENHANCER - generates bad logos less bad 15 Apr 2018 15:58 #95170

//dl, un-zip, drag folder into ~/Movies/Motion Templates/Generators //

Hot topics are actually HDR and 4k and proResRAW… but on the other end of the universe, in my hobbyist corner, there’s frequently a different situation, conc. ‘Quality’:

Like, you do weekly football reports, and you want to apply the contestants logo to your project… but all you find in the internet is this 96x96pixel jpg (yep, read ninety-six pix ‘resolution’).

Hmm, now? re-draw by hand, use some online vectorizer, ‘shopping it’ (but how??)… spending an hour, and just for the other teams logo??

Use this very simple to use generator:
Drag it to your project, you see this rectangle, switch to the Inspector, click on the Source Image Well…

Select your bad quality logo, hit Apply…

The Inspector offers just very few controls:
Scale… just does like that.
Detail - this plugin can not do wonders, but… a bit.
Before/After - splits the Preview, the OSC allows to set the angle of the split

As you notice in this example: a high Detail Value makes the tail nice and smooth, but the Leu lose eyes and mouth… so, it is always a compromise of detail and smoothness.

A side by side comparison shows: the enhanced version looks ‘more crisp’: when you re-scale the whole generator by 50% you get an even better result.

Enjoy movie making!

I guess this only works with small logos. I was trying to sharpen up a 1153 x 304 logo but all it showed only a small portion of the logo.

Thank you for bringing that up to my attention … indeed, it is meant only to enhance quality of super-scaled, tiny logos … basically: blur steps/pixelation, than threshold the contrasts …
