Here you have a free Timecode Reader for Final Cut Pro X.

You can download it from y blog:

finalcutargentina.blogspot.com/2011/07/t...reader-gratuito-para ...

The instructions for the installation are in spanish, but it's not a difficult matter.

Hi Leo,

Thanks for the time code reader. Is there any chance you can add the filename to the displayed information as well as the timecode?

Many thanks

James

James,

I have to research a little for that, but I guess some programming is involved for that, and I am not a developer.

Hi,
I've been using this generator for a while now, but today we've upgraded to fcpx 10.0.4. The effect now does't use the timecode from the rushes, or the original clip but uses the timecode from the project... which is basically the same as the generator as provided by apple...

i really need to have a time code reader who reads the original timecode from the clips... not the timecode from the project...

any ideas?

thx
R

Some plugin developers are roporting problemes with 10.0.4
I have to look for a workaround. The Motion filter for timecode does not allow to read file timecode anymore. That's the problem, but I don't know if it is just a bug or not.

Hi Leohans,

first of all: thanks for making the filter. I used it a lot, before 10.0.4, and it did what I already asked 10 times of Apple in Feedback: to provide a way to have clip timecode.
We need it a lot for clients, and rendering this in the slow FCP 7 is a pitty.

I just wanted to ask if there is any update on your filter.
I know you said it seemed like the update didn't let you do that anymore, or give access to whatever you used in Motion.
Do you already have an answer from Apple, or do you think it will be possible in the future again, or ... ?

Kind regards,

I have no news about that. Probably it will be fixed with the next FPCX/Motion update. (I hope).
I have sent some feedback to Apple too.
