I know he has important friends so it doesn't surprise me in the least that he's seen "the next Final Cut Pro." He did make mention of the 10.0.7 update before it was released in another thread...

www.fcp.co/forum/4-final-cut-pro-x-fcpx/...regarding-the-future

I don't see Apple changing gears entirely (again) with another drastic change. But if they do charge $299 all over again, I guess they do need lots of big changes. FCPX hasn't had a "big" update in a while.

You would think that people who bought 10.0 and kept it this whole time would get promo codes for a discount?

Ha! I knew I recognized the name.

Well, that counts against his record then, cause there was no big release in April as he predicted.

10.1 and "version 2" I don't see being the same thing. And I don't recall anyone using the term "FCP version 2". Dude makes no sense, I think he's making crap up, or is being messed with. But, who knows? We will see when we do.

Personally, I feel (as my Apple business rep does, too) that tomorrow we will hear an announcement of some future release date for "the Tube". No clue on FCP's next release, and not even going to try to guess. It'll get here when it gets here.

But a total revamp new version? I find that REALLY hard to believe after only 2.5 years they totally throw out all the code and start over again. The product is pretty good and successful as is. What would be the motivation? Defies common sense.

So, what is the number one TOP thing y'all would like to see in the next release? The one top thing you feel is THE most important feature or enhancement?

BTW, I've jumped on Wikipedia a few times to update and correct the information about FCP X there. If any one here is familiar with contributing to Wiki, I strongly urge you to help clean up the very, very outdated mess that entry is.

Now that is an EXCELLENT initiative. Wiki is a popular information resource. Good thinking, Ben!

I am very pessimistic this day. My guess is: Apple will abandon FCPX and spice up iMovie instead, no Mac Pro this year. Those are horrible thoughts and I hope no one will agree :(

I don't know why you'd think any of that was remotely possible...

If the San Andreas fault gives way in the next 24 hours and Silicon Valley as well as the rest of California falls into the sea, the I think you are spot on, with the exception of continued iMovie development.

Emotions can be totally wrong. Don't trust them. Apple has already pre-announced the MacPro as well as the new version of Final Cut Pro. And they are dedicated to professionals as they state on their web site:

"See how Final Cut Pro X redefines post-production for professionals."

"Read about professional video editors in news, broadcast, and feature filmmaking using Final Cut Pro X."

No mention of cat videos for YouTube in sight.

Yes, very funny how one rumor can spark debate across the internet. Over at the GH2 hack forums a guy popped up saying the 'twitter rumormill' was predicting a complete overhaul of FCP which was making him pretty nervous. Seems completely impossible, to me, and glad to hear that sentiment shared here. Looking forward to 1.0 release!

I removed #FCPX from my twitter, no reason to pay attention to pointless Gossip and FUD (fear uncertainty and doubt) that is out there. Today has enough paid work for me to worry about.

Treatment of depression and panic attacks?

At least the writer's feeling better.

I know-- the days leading up to, and especially the day of, an Apple event become increasingly less productive for me. This one especially has my interest piqued.

A short while ago a person working on a studio feature film asked me for plugin help to bridge a gap in their workflow.

They said that they're working directly with the Final Cut Pro X team, so discontinuation won't be happening in the near future.

How else can they demo the Mac Pro? :)

Yes. I've heard about this too from people in the know. Apple has been very active this year in LA. We haven't seen the results of that yet- but there's a lot going on.

I'm curious if we will finally see live shared projects where editors can share tasks on the same project simultaneously. That's something @alex4d found in the initial release of 10.0.0.

Yes, I've got an acquaintance at a premiere post house in LA and she told me that Apple has been going around asking everyone that works for them what they want from X in future releases and what could be better. This has been happening all around LA as you mention and I think it shows their commitment.

We talked about this earlier in the thread and as far as remote goes probably not, but local could be a big possibility.

Side note: Oh boy are we busy bees on this thread today :woohoo:

I've seen this as well. Whether we see the results in the upcoming release or down the road is all a matter of conjecture. Apple is definitely committed to X though, of that I'm certain...
